Election...Trident Renewal

Sadly I'm still to young to vote, missed it by a year! However this time round I look the liberty of looking into the different parties to see what they are offering. And without a doubt in my mind I'm a Green Party supporter, they may not be the biggest party in comparison to the main three parties but they are the best in my eyes. One major reason for this is the Trident Renewal, I had written to our local conservative MP on the matter, David Rufferly, and I did not like the reply. However the Green Party doesn't only not want to renew the Trident but they want to be rid of all the UK's nuclear weapons, now to me that sounds like a very good idea. To begin with I was fooled by Nick Clegg, thinking that the Lib Dems position was the same but apparently not, they only want to find a cheaper alternative, which in the face of choosing between the 'Big 3' would be the best option however if I could vote my vote would still lie with the Green Party. I managed to get into a debate today over it, with a BNP/UKIP supporter, as you can imagine it was a rather good debate. I was called a hippy, but I do have some hippy traits and I'm rather proud of being a supporter of peace around the world and 'No Nukes!' Infact we recieved our UKIP flyer in the post today, I took the chance and ripped it up. Wouldn't have done any good in our household anyway! But as for election day, I will hope that Green is victorious, but the chances of that happening are very slim, however it is some comfort that its just as slim a chance that BNP or UKIP will get into power.

Nottingham Psychology Conference

Been to a psychology conference at Nottingham University, the lectures were excellent, found them really interesting. I think it will help with A-Level Pscyhology too as many of the topics linked into biopscyhology and the nature-nurture debate. I especially enjoyed the lectues carried oout by James Ridgeway, he is an excellent motivational speaker and gives fantastic advice on exams and getting into university. I will deffinetly be looking into buying his new book, if it's anything like how he inspires in his lectures it will be very good.
